The
Energy Policy Act
of 2005 provides for tax credits for homeowners who make certain
specific energy-saving home improvements during calendar years 2006 and
2007. This Energy Act provides tax credits of
up to $500.00 for homeowners who buy qualified energy
efficiency improvements after December 31,2005 and before Jan 1, 2008.
Tax credits for homeowners are as follows:
Central A/C, air source heat pumps; geothermal heat pumps; gas, oil or
propane water heaters; and heat pump water heaters meeting various
minimum standards carry a flat credit of $300.00
Gas, oil or propane furnaces or boilers AFUE 95 have a flat credit of
$150.00.
Other items such as insulation, doors, windows, etc. are also entitled
to a credit.
